My words:

A fact is something proven, inherently or expressly. It is empirically studied and accepted by the overwhelming majority of experts associated with the subject matter. It is not to be confused with opinion or perspective, nor subjected interpretation. It is known, irrefutable, and possesses evidence-based support.
